Writing and being creative with photos and text is a passion of me; combining this interest with scientific knowledge is a great opportunity to learn and go deeper into certain topics and is also why I applied as a Student Reporter for the Tropentag 2013. I am currently enrolled in a Master Program at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, at the School for Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences in Switzerland (HAFL). I did my Bachelor in International Agriculture and am now majoring in Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Production Systems. My task as a Student Reporter will mainly be to take and edit photos from the different sessions. I find our international group of Student Reporters very inspiring and I am looking forward to work together for the Tropentag Blog on this interesting conference. We will give our best on making it most interesting also for YOU all out there.

Zhao Xi is from China. She got Bachelor degree in World History and Economics at Peking University in China, Master degree at TU Dresden in Germany. Now she is a PhD Student at International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) at Kassel University, based in the department of Development Economics, Migration and Agricultural Policy (DEMAP). She is very interested in social media and works as a Student Reporter in Tropentag 2013. In the team, she is responsible for interview and Video taking. She worked as Journalist and Editor in China before and translated many English books into Chinese. This time she would like to share more ideas and record the Events at Tropentag 2013.

Viviane Meyer has a Polish/German nationality and was born in Bersenbrück, Lower Saxony. She just finished her Bachelor degree in Environmental and Resource Management at the Brandenburg Technical University of Cottbus and will start in October to study Environmental Protection and Agricultural Food Production at University Hohenheim. Viviane did an internship at the environmental organization WALHI in Indonesia where she got to know the manifold problems regarding oil palm plantations. She is proud to be a Student Reporter and to capture memories of the Tropentag 2013 in expressive pictures.

Hi everyone, my name is Kirstin Ohlendorf, I am studying “Integrated Natural Resource Management” in Berlin. As a student reporter I will mostly be blogging from the sessions and presentations. I am a student reporter, because I am generally interested in the Topentag, but especially in the this years theme "Agricultural development within the rural-urban continuum".

Hi to those reading the blog. My name is Vince Canger, a student of the Universities of Göttingen and Kassel, and I will be reporting and partly responsible for video editing at this year's Tropentag Conference. I am looking forward to gaining some good experience on agricultural communications work and also to learning about new perspectives and developments coming from the field.
